Actually, David, that can't be ENTIRELY true - that you read the book in 1986. Any of the entries with the arguably uglier mostly-black artwork were added, I believe, to the 1993 edition of the book (the one I have). It has the same page count as you quote in the review, so I presume the 1993 and 1999 editions are the same.

For instance, the Calico M-950 pistol, pretty much the whole Greandes and Rocket Launchers section, etc.
