Exactly. Its not MENT to be a fast-paced, action-filled gunfest like most things these days. Like the novels its adapted from, and like the American equivalents of those novels (Honor Harrington, Miles Vorkosigan, etc.) its ment to be a slower-paced exploration of a realistic setting and characters.
Personally, I love the plots. They're sweeping and epic and they're not artificially accelerated to keep audiences on the edge of their seats. The action sequences are incredible - the Battle of the Gosroth was one of THE best space battles I've ever seen, bar none. And the characters (Jinto and Lafiel) and Abh society are absolutely fasinating. Especially since the characters don't always realize things about themselves that are blindingly obvious to those of us watching. (Like Jinto's fascination with space flight)
Don't expect an edge-of-your-seat thriller. Expect a deep exploration of a universe that will, if you give it a chance, capture your sense of wonder.
