Believe it or not, V&V is most certainly alive and well. In fact, the V&V Web RPG Forums has the second most active website for ALL RPGs (behind Twilight 2000).

My group has played regularly in the same campaign for a full 13 years (we're about to enter our 14th year), and that's playing almost every week. We're not the only ones, as many others have FTF groups, and there are scores of PBEMs out there as well.
Many use homebrewed systems, but if you do a Google search you'll see that there are over a dozen well articulated V&V websites out there. For one of the best, check out:
