Praise and a question...

Converted from Phorums BB System

Congratulations, you just sold me this book! I'd been following the previews on Monte Cook's website, and like you, I was positively drooling over the description of the magic system. The synthesis of the sorcerer's and wizard's spellcasting methods sounds just how I've always wanted magic to work in D&D, and all the ways to tweak spells were just gravy. On the other hand, the descriptions of races, classes and feats didn't hold much interest for me; they sounded too far out for my taste.

However, even though I already knew most of what you covered in your review, something about the way you describe it makes it appeal to me in a way Monte's own descriptions never did. (Except for the Littorans; they still leave me cold. It's not that I don't like furries, it's just that they sound too much like every other feline race I've seen before.)

As the subject line says, I do have one question: What race were the rulers of the "evil empire" that the giants dethroned?
