They don't get the ability until level 16, but when they do, it grants them the ability to attempt to parry any spells targeting the mage blade alone; the mage blade makes an attack roll opposed by the caster's power check. if the mage blade rolls higher, the spell fails to effect him or her at all; can only parry spells he or she is aware of, and can only parry one per round.

Note, they get other abilities using their blade against magic. for example, slice through spells and slide through wardings, shimmering shield, athame defense, etc.

parry spell is just the one that leaped out first in my book.
