I suppose I should have added the caveat that I haven't played Civ3 since it came out.

I remember it being a bunch of nit-picky things combined together to make me dislike it. I remember disliking corruption in particular....

As I tried to say above, I'm not asserting that the two games are entirely different, or that Civ3 is a bad game. I'm just saying that they are at least different enough that someone who disliked Civ3 (me, for instance) might still have a lot of fun with GalCiv.

I'm sorry I couldn't give a more constructive response. If you're willing to wait until next week for feedback (which I guess would be more for your own personal edification since this review will have dropped off the front page) I can borrow my friend's copy of Civ3 and run through it to refresh my memory.
