sources and inspiration

Converted from Phorums BB System

This is covered in the book but there are A LOT of sources/inspiration about this era around that would make for suitable RPG material with some creativity. I'd love run a Napoleonic era thing.

I single out novles by Patrick O'Brian (Aubrey and Maturin), Bernard Cornwell (Sharpe), and the granddad of them all, C. S. Forester (Horatio Hornblower). There are movie versions of all, of varying quality. Of course Master and Commander was a major theatrical release. The new Horatio Hornblowers with Ioan Gryfudd are just great, and a good way you could have a campaign. Availability in the USA is spotty for the Sharpe series with Sean Bean but they too are fun.

David Weber's Honor Harrington is space opera that wears its obvious Forester inspiration proudly.
