I think Jon Snow and Daenerys are going to be our real heroes on this one. Daenerys is hard, but she has yet to do something I find really reprhensible, and she is well on her way to becoming a sort of King Arthur figure (returning across the waves to bring back the old ling of kings). Of course, she's just as likely to become the worst bloody horror the 7 kingdoms have seen, so....
And Jon Snow is strongly one of the most symnpathetic characters by the end of the third book (the full third book, in america, it wasn't split). He has made some truly difficult decisions, and he has mostly made them for the right reasons. He has respected his oaths, and his fellow members of the Watch. He has grown in many ways, both from the temporary breaking of his oaths, and his strength in taking them back up when he had to. In case you can't tell, I really like him.
