Converted from Phorums BB System
Yes, I downloaded "the" PDF. At least at the time of my downloading there was an approx. 8mb file named "MIDIAN.PDF" that seemed to contain all the rules. Check the pages again and look for that .zip file, it contains one big pdf and no chapters.
And here's what I didn't like about the game (tho I didn't bother to playtest of course):
1) Artwork. What you describe as a creative new approach to RPG illustrations is actually nothing more than stolen or free clipart from some AOL-goth-teen's first homepages. The authors haven't even bothered to fade the borders of the images to match the PDF. background. The results look less than amateurish. I didn't know if I should start crying or laugh when I saw the first images.
2) Style of writing. Page 159 of the PDF serves as an example. What you praise as a humorous and "clearly for adult audiences" is surely in reality more entertaining and appropriate for the angry 15-year old nerd. I fail to see what maturity there is in the use of crude swear words ("dumb bitch" etc.) and the example of play on page 159 is to me the ultimate horror of any RPG-session.
Having a fight break out IRL between RPG players (that are obviously drunk or extremely idiotic as far as the characters on page 159 are concerned) is far from roleplaying.
I'll consider posting comments about the rules if I ever bother to read them. The font was very annoying and didn't encourage me to read on intensively beyond the first pages. The crude artwork and poor quality text convinced me early on that the author of this system by largest chance didn't make an RPG I'd ever want to play.
