Converted from Phorums BB System
Peculiar. I checked the page too, the link is no longer there. A week ago it was. I'm not going to bother to upload the pdf so you'll just have to believe on this one.
On the other issue:
Perhaps I've then been raised amidst different types of games, but "@!#$ it", "dumb bitch" and "screw you" are in my opinion phrases that don't belong in any RPG session and I really detest even the mere thought of having players like that in my game. Not unless of course playing in character of someone who actually uses harsh language. In this case however it were the players themselves "yapping bull".
But I don't want to run you over with this, it's not the first time I'm confronted with this issue. I live in Scandinavia and the whole RPG scene is much more serious here compared to that of, for example the US. It seems like loads of people excercise RPGs also as a sort of beer & bretzels fun amongst friends over at the other side of the globe. Here RPGs are more "serious fun". We don't order pizzas, we don't drink beer, we don't come late, we don't start arguing amongst ourselve. We shut up, play in character and enter another world.
And that to me ,is what roleplaying is all about. If I just want to switch off my brains and have a laugh I can do something else.
Roleplaying gives you the same kind of feeling when you're watching a brilliant movie that just sweeps you off the floor. The example of play in midian does not.
