I really don't think something that metatextual crossed the minds of the designers, although it is a WONDERFUL idea for the game. Like, how accurate would the information be? Have the beholders been helping to fuel this misinformation by enslaving the WotC staff?

Now THAT would be a "UA" game I'd play in.
