Well, you ain't gonna run Conan with these rules, nor Buck Rogers, but then you're not supposed to.
The idea is play out what the dice decide. Once you do this you realise that there is a surprising amount of freedom of interpretation. Given this, even with the same rolls you might get very different games.
This game is supposed to be a tight emulation of a genre within a fixed framework.
If you make car noises when playing monopoly, or issue orders to your chess pieces in a nazi voice, then this is the game for you.
Heck, even if you don't, $10 isn't much to support an innovative direction in game design and your friends will think you're cool (actually they'll still think you're that weirdo gamer but it was worth a shot).
