I don't think that strongly defining a 'trope chokes it; in many cases riffing on the established 'rules' of the genre.

The game our group probably plays more than anything else is APKUFS (short for Attack of the Psychotic Killer Undead From the Sea), where each person takes a cliche from zombie movies (hero, heroine, tough guy etc) and plays cards like 'Fight scene', 'Knowledge' and so on to define parts of the story. It's even more scripted than My Life with Master, but it's still fun every time we play (and that's a lot of times; it's a short game).
