So what does that make you? The hip groovy modern geek? I understand not everyone likes the Hero System but please don't insult the rest of us for our choice.

Uh, I'm not insulting you. I'm simply saying that people who like HERO systems are sort of like the RPG equivalent of old electronics geeks who build their own equipment. Uh, that's not an insult. I actually think that it's cool to build your own equipment, whatever field or hobby you are in. Old geeks, new geeks, whoever.

I am just saying in my posts that FOR ME when it comes to buying RPGs, I prefer ones that are already "pre-built", rather than ones like HERO games, which seem to require more tinkering and construction on th epart of players and GMs. If I want to build or tinker with game systems, I prefer to tinker with or build my own home-made systems.

I understand that others like HERO games, and I have no problem with that. HERO games require a certain taste or preference, which happen not to be MY taste or preference. I thought it was interesting to point out the kind of taste or preference that those who do prefer HERO games seem to have: the build-it-yourself type of preference. I thought this idea about HERO games being similar to a kit car rather than coming pre-built was an interesting and apt description of the HERO games type of mindset or preference. I thought it was an idea worth mentioning or discussing. This doesn't at all amount to an insult. It is a DESCRIPTION of the HERO systems and the kinds of gamers who like them. It is a DESCRIPTION, not an INSULT. I find nothing wrong with people who like HERO games, just as I find nothing wrong with people who like Backgammon. I happen to neither be a HERO games OR a Backgammon fan; that doesn't make HERO games or Backgammon bad games; they are just not to my own preference. The post I made merely contained comments on why some people might prefer HERO games (they like to build-it-themselves), and why I do not prefer HERO games. None of it is remotely an isult; I just thought thta thye were interesting observations that might be worth discussing.
