Robert, I agree. Gameplay at a con makes all the difference. I've run games of Dread at Trinoc-Con (in Durham, NC) two years in a row, and it was a blast both times.
I don't think a game this small (100 copies) justifies a presence at a big con, though, unless one intends to release a large-press version later on (which isn't the case this time, I'm afraid -- at least, not in hard-copy format).
But your advice is sound -- for a larger-scale product, a con presence is vital.
