I picked it up as a huge Dragonlance fan, and as someone who doesn't really care for the Forgotten Realms, the DL book comes no where near the quality of the FR setting book.

This biggest problem was poor editting and uninteresting writing. For example, in the Kender racial description alone they told me three separate times that Kender are fearless, in three different paragraphs, each time phrased like it was new information. It was like three people wrote the description and someone did a file merge.

It's good enough for fans of the setting, but I don't think it will win anyone over. Don't expect a top notch book.
