What you say is true only if you decide to use all available advanced options. You can also keep combat as simple as rolling skill vs. skill.

Our group is pretty comfortable with the combat system, so we tend to go into more detail on important combats and stick to the basics for less important combats.

Stick to basic combat rules, and it is pretty simple and quick.

All the options are there to pick and choose from, and add in if want them, though.
