RE: System Matters

Fair enough, I think from this whole series of posts it is obvious that some people find system more important than others (and please, this is not a criticism or slur against anyone's chosen play style). I think that it basically comes down to the individuals involved and what style of play they prefer.
Personally I work around system and try to emphasis story - this doesn't always work but I've managed to run entire D&D scenarios with maybe 2 dice rolls total - although admittedly that was no combat. I find that I can (often but not always) maintain an atmosphere without relying on system.
In SteelCaress' and Philomousos' experience they find system important to keeping atmosphere within the story.
Either style of play is valid and as long as the groups playing enjoy themselves what does it matter? Each group/player should choose a style of play, rules heavy, rules light or rules non-existant and run with it - they can even mix it up a bit.
