As someone noted, the picture had them looking like Romans, that's all.

Not much info on them, they were mysterious, like most of the creatures of the world. That's what was good about the setting (in the early books anyway), magic and monsters weren't mundane. People knew spooky things existed, but only in the bad places where you didn't go.

The elves have quite a mention in the first book's adventure's background. When one of the original adventurers accidentally shoot one with a crossbow in the woods, the elflord surrounds them with a pack of wolves, letting only one go free with his life.....
