I agree with all of this praise! What's interesting is the development of the game from the fairly straightforward (if darkly mythloric in a very English way) first book to the wonderful detail (and very small print) of the final setting book. It's years since I've read these books, but I still remember a number of the details vividly - the city that was a bridge sticks with me in particular, together with the roaming herds of centaurs on the plains. I've never actually played a game, but I think that I could be tempted to. Maybe the rerelease of the Fighting Fantasy books might encourage a rerelease of these books through bookstores ... I still have all six, but I can think of a friend who might find them very interesting and enjoyable! And, as I have them already, I wouldn't object to a reissue of the world as a D20 sourcebook!
