What, you think we were cavemen or something? Nobody in the 1970s or '80s thought radiation did anything like the stuff in the game, it was intentionally silly, gonzo fun.

People back then were painfully aware of the real world effects, little is known now that wasn't already known then. I find it bizarre how many people seem to imagine that back then we all thought radiation made you grow wings.
