It does. It was a place of safety for outcasts to flee to to avoid persecution for their crimes; hence, its use in Barker's fiction. His writings are full of Biblical, hermetic, and other symbolical allusions which make it fascinating to read.
I wish this review had told me thing one about the actual game, not just about the frustration with the players. I want to know about what kinds of supernatural beasties are available to play, what the premise of the setting is, and so on. With a name like Midian, and my love of Clive Barker's writings, I had to read this review, but ...
Also, I second the kudos to Nightspawn/Nightbane. Although Palladium takes a stern, TSR-ish attitude towards conversion material using their games. Possibly because the system is, in fact so clunky. Fact, everything I've read by Nightbane's author (name escapes me) has been good.
