I am part of the forum you are talking about and I have read your review. I agreed with some of the things you said also. Rolemaster has always been a take what you want and leave the rest there kind of system. Every rule in Rolemaster is optional. Harp is an attempt to standardise rolemaster for mass consumption. D&D is also a standardised game system. Of course they will share similarities. You would be hard pressed to find anything related to a medievel fantasy genre that does not share some aspects. Books, Movies, Video Games and table top RPGs all share similarities. I think your review was honest and I take no offense personally. However, comparing D20 to Harp is like comparing Oranges to Tangerines. They are very similar but much different. The game system is meant for people who want a little more realism from a game and not what every 12 year old gets for their birthday. I love the fact that I can dispatch an opponent instantly instead of having to bruise them to death. Sure it has its flaws. It is a brand new system built by people with a much smaller budget than WOTC. For all of your biased hatred for Rolemaster it is still the only gamesystem that ever gave TSR and now WOTC a run for their money. All of the games you mentioned you like are played by a much smaller audience than Rolemaster. Rolemaster has stood the test of time as a viable alternative to D&D. This is the first version of HARP and it will have issues. Please give it a break.
