As someone who has played both RM & D&D (and countless others), I did appreciate the comparisons.

I DO want to know if I am about to buy a RM 'lite' or a D&D clone.

That was especially poignant for me. It seems like the development just could not escape the mechanics of RM here. This may be a good thing for previous RM players - as product familiarity is always good, but (only in my opinion) I don't think too many RM players will completely switch to HARP. Therefore, I think they were trying to reach a new market. Thus, I would have liked to see a bigger departure from some of the 'clunky' mechanics of RM.

That said - (someone else on these posts pointed out) this is their FIRST attempt at HARP. After all - D&D has already taken 3.5 versions to 'streamline' their game. I can imagine how good this game could get after only 1 or 2 more iterations!
