Thanks for the info on the license, I was curious about that as well.

As for WotC's lineage, not only were they never a descendent of TSR (Wizards broke into the hobby with the 'Magic' trading card game, then somehow gained a patent on the entire concept of the collectable trading card game. I'm still not sure how THAT happened. To me, it seems about the same as TSR attempting to patent the concept of a role-playing game around 1980. So anyway, then WotC sued, or threatened such to, all the other companies with trading card games for a huge slice of their profits. Only then did they buy out TSR and boy did this parenthetical comment get away from me...) but then they sold out to Hasbro. Which is why WotC books are the only books for sale in normal game stores (that is, not specifically gaming hobby shops). I admit that it worries me that the largest slice of my favorite hobby is owned by an immense corporation that barely knows my hobby exists.

Oh, well.
