Note that in HARP, there is no checking combat results on table against armor type.
HARP contains a single roll combat resolution. Whether or not you hit your foe hard enough to damage him is determined without tables at all. And only the actual damage is looked up on a table.
HARP even contains an option that lets you get away from using any tables for combat!
While these have been pretty good reviews, niether one has mentioned many of the available options, nor the flexibility of the game.
Nor does HARP use just any old numbers. Standarized modifiers are almost all based on multiples of 10.
A character's DB however is not a standard modifier (i.e. it is based on the character's quickness bonus). However, the reviewer's comments about modifiers are all those types of things that are normally (and should be) already prefigured. The on-the-fly modifiers, such as for difficulty ratings are all actually multiples of 20.
