Exactly. That's the complaint--that the BoVD labels a bunch of things as "evil", or associates them with "evil" people, without really explaining either why these things are evil, or exploring the ramifications. Which would be annoying enough, if not for the cartoony inclusion of things like masochism. Yes, an argument could be made for a masochist being not-good (such as in a belief system that says the body is sacred), but given that no one else is hurt, simply making the blanket assertion, or, rather, just assuming it's "obviously" evil, strikes me as the sort of unreasoned characteristic that is often assigned to "bad guys" in film.
