I have to agree about BoVD, though -- while there's a few silly bits in it (some of the magical diseases are just stupid), I found it mostly to be of immense value. It's less player friendly than the BoED, but that's mostly due to BoED having better prestige classes than BoVD, which had very few worked outside of NPCs, IMO.
