The prestige class:
Yes it relies on secrecy, but I maintain my viewpoint.

The races:
Either I completely missed the explanation for their inherent evilness, or I read it and scoffed aloud at it (I do that) and forgot about it. It's the same reason why I ignore anything that contains the word "drow" in its description.

The book:
I guess I come off as too critical of the book. I enjoy what the book has to offer in terms of basic rules. There are some very nice bits in there that can be molded by a diligent DM into something very nasty. My complaint about the book is what I believe to be an overly-simplistic view of good-vs-evil (all of these opinions go for "Book of Exalted Deeds" as well, but replace the word "nasty" with "glorious" or something). I shouldn't have expected a mature discussion about the nature of evil, but I did, and that's why I sometimes get derisive to the book in general, since my unusually high expectations were not met. I'm a firm believer in making evil beings believable in their motives, not just in making up a tyrant and saying he does this becuase he's evil, which is what I think the default argument is for a lot of things in this book. A complex and "human" villain is more interesting than a cartoon one.
