The setting is not any more generic, in fact there's more detail, on more areas, than ever. Excessive detail on small areas was, in fact, one of the problems with Hero WARS supliments. The game mechanics have a built-in level of vagueness, which leaves a lot to the GM and players to work out after contests.

Most setting details would be useful to any ruleset using Glorantha, although you'd have to make up your own skill and magic rules for the more unusual ones.
