Give Wyerth a break

I agree for the most part with this review, but I have to say that I found the setting to be the most compelling part of the package.
First of all, the countries are not all "Renaissance pseudo-European". Those in the upper right corner of the map certainly fit that description, but you also have places inspired by Arabia, China/Japan, India, and some that are quite there own thing. It give the GM quite a canvas with which to work, and its easy to find a corner of the world that will accomodate the campaign flavor you are looking for.
Secondly, I found the focus on culture in the descriptions of the country to provide lots of flavor, and the descriptions are just long enough to fill your head with ideas without bogging you down with endless lists of places and persons to memorize.
Finally, I like the vital importance that religion has in the world of Wyerth, and the interlocking structure of the religions, so that nobody is sure who has the whole truth (or even if there is a truth). And because divine magic is not a part of TROS, the efficacy of a god is purely in the hands of his or her followers. If your Faith drives you to perform mighty deeds, then your god is great indeed.
