Howdy.
Jake here. I hear this pretty frequently, and all the people in China can't be wrong, as they say. So....
I'm opening my door, so to speak, for editorial suggestions. We may or may not do a TROS 2E, but we will be doing more books (TROS and otherwise), and I want to avoid the mistakes of my youth. Here are the rules:
1) No bashing, bitching, or whining. Use another thread. This is for constructive criticism, and I need helpful suggestions and solutions to existing problems. Give me a problem in the book, propose a solution.
2) Specifics are better than generalities.
3) What about the layout, if anything, DID work, so that I know what not to throw out.
4) What about the prose, if anything, also worked, so that I know where I got it right.
5) (There are rules for me, too) I will take every suggestion seriously and treat it with respect, and I will avoid making excuses entirely, offering explanations only when asked for, or when a suggestion is simply impossible. I would ask for the same respect out of you all.
Sound fair? I really am interested in this, because it was my first project of the sort, and a "professional editor" of the degree suggested is about as likely for TROS' future as is my making a fortune off of an RPG.
