Uh. What you said makes no sense. The con bonus isn't doubled at all, except for a 1st level character. If you have a 10th level character with 16 con:

Hit Points

1-80 Fine
-3-0 Not fine
-15--4 Unconscious
-16 Dead

That gives them three more 'able to act but in bad shape' hit points and six more 'unconscious but not dead' hit points. That's not a doubling at all.
