You should have waited for Unearthed Arcana then. I am not incredibly fond of many of the D&D baselines (Tolkeinesque Races, Vancian Magic). AU is a NEW system built on the D20 core rules. It is a PHB that is designed to replace the original PHB, not be used with it.
