Oliver,

No, for warrior types it is very reasonable to assume that WIT will be higher than PER....and Reflex as well. Why?

Because WIT gives you REFLEX while PER gives aim....and since melee combat is less forgiving than missile combat, you need WIT.
-------------------------------

Flawed logic. Precisely BECAUSE melee combat is less forgiving, it would be good if you could avoid it altogether.

---------------------------
Furthermore WIT gives more secondary stats than PER.
---------------------------

Assumes numbercrunching.

-------------------------------
Finally, PER is reduced by any kind of headcover. WIT is not.

Assumes headcover is worn.

As for toughness, My kid with a stick had a total soak of 12 and that was with no combat pool loss. It is HARD to do much damage through that much soak. This gets even worse if I decide I can drop a few combat pool and get heavy armor. You are not going to get through a SOAK of 14-16 very easily.....which magnifies my point.

No, it doesn't. It merely illustrates your point is limited to ridiculous extremes conceived with the deliberate attempt to break the system, i.e. a situation in which the GM usually says "Thanks, but I think we're not the group for you" anyway.

Your kid with a stick had a toughness of 6 in the non-Stahlnish example, which can be EASILY compensated by most swords or a flail.
Plus, there's always grappling.
