1st edition Chivalry and Sorcery has a jousting system that is a direct outgrowth of this one. It is more detailed and includes dice rolls to resolve actions, but has the same core mechanic of comparing aiming points to defensive stances to determine the range of possible outcomes. It plays more fun that it reads. There is a lesson here: combat systems that include true tactical decision making (where the outome depends directly on the choices made by you and your opponent) are enormously more fun than those that abstract all meaningful choices into die rolls or scaler strengths. I would love to see/make a playable combat system in which all tasks are resolved this way.
