RE: Good review but..

Converted from Phorums BB System

<< Talislanta does not have elves or dwarves >>

Neither do several other settings like Stormbringer, Skyrealms of Jorune..."

...and neither does Talislanta I think the reviewer here was distinguishing Tal4 from the mainstream by stating a fact of the game. All I see here are both of you agreeing that Tal4 has no elves and dwarves.

"<< It?s important to note that very few of these races are considered inherently good or evil >>

Besides the games I mentionned there are plenty of other games in the market that don't have "alignements". And they are not hard to find."

I don't necessarily know what point you are trying to make here, Sergio. I know that other games don't have alignment, but neither does Tal. If you can, let me know what you're trying to point out.

" << Where hit points vary from other games is that, except for applying a constitution bonus during character creation, they do not increase. >>

Most of the games I mention above work like this. And some of them have done it for the last 3 decades, long before Tal did it."

Another part of the system that the review points out. Some games have HP that go up during character development, some do not.

As far as the shield comment, we've agreed here that it isn't a unique aspect that came from Talislanta and that the reviewer erred here.

But you didn't have to tell us you laughed

Overall, I get the impression that you are saying that Talislanta isn't totally unique in its aspects, but the overall note that I got from the review is that Talislanta combines these aspects to make a unique roleplaying experience in a very wide variety of settings. Let me know where I'm off on this, because it's my first post on rpg.net and I'm just trying to figure it all out.

And it is true that you state the review being good and informative at the end. Some people can get caught up in what they perceive as a negative message and miss the good points.
