Thanks for your response Rob.
I've to agree with you on the horrible editing and layout that went into HW; HQ is a marked improvement in terms of layout, but I still think that some of its concepts could have been better explained.

I admit that I was quite taken with some HW/ HQ concepts, which why I see some similarities in FATE -- that's a compliment, BTW. Enough similarities for me to look more deeply into your design.

I also have to admit that FATE does some things better -- I think the term "Aspects" is more evocative than "Keywords," and I think you've done a bang-up job of balancing skill gains with your pyramid model. I've always like the descriptive terms in FUDGE, so a big plus for FATE there.

I'm currently designing a HQ-influenced Middle Earth campaign, and I have to say I'll probably steal some ideas from FATE for that

A question though: You guys are designing a "non-FUDGE flavoured" FATE. Can you tell us more about it?
