Heartquest actually covers four areas friend so don't necessarily knock it before you tried it.

1. Roleplaying intense games

Yeah, you could say it rarely rises beyond soap opera but I for one rather enjoy the possibilities of a game benefitting from deeper romance and drama.

2. Magical Girls

Yes, this is INDEED here but there's a fun appeal I think to playing the oddity of it all. Besides 'magical girls' can include Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Charmed, and plenty of other non-anime more serious works.

And it can also be magical 'boys'

(Harry Potter anyone?)

3. Anime in General

The game gives alot of information about cultural attitudes of japan and a good system for it. With heartquest revised you get the benefit of the Mecha book too (You still have to buy them seperate as ebooks though)

It'll be a dang cool system for play I thought.

4. High School Drama

Forgetting Dawson's creek I still had fun running "Slasher films" with the system and ran an Evil Dead Game

"Save our Cheerleaders" with the system. The Combat rules are pretty damn brutal and visceral.
