Yep, what you say is true. It's not a criticism of this game, actually (although what I said comes across like that); it's an all-round, slap-my-head-in-disbelief reaction because you see this a lot in many d20 products - how this book or supplement now lets you do X, Y or Z - and phrased in that 'Gee whizz, isn't this totally cool?' manner. I was reacting to that more than anything else because I find it ironic that after 30 years D&D's base system is finally catching up!

Old hands like us groan, shrug and get on with playing, but newbies who have little experience beyond d20/D&D might be lulled into thinking that new ground's being broken, when really it isn't. I'm being ageist I suppose. Hell, I still remember (and even lovingly own) Tunnels and Trolls...
