Damge

Converted from Phorums BB System

G'day,

I have only every seen the original, so I was wondering how GBI calculates damage, as stated in the review. Damage in the original was completely in terms of Brownie point loss, and the amount was almost purely arbitrary. Two people swing baseball bats at each other and one wins by 10 points? Bugger all guidelines on how much damage the loser takes (which funnily enough never seemed to bother even the worst rules lawyers I know).
So how does GBI determine “6 points of damage?”

On another note, I agree with a lot of other postings that, as the rules stand, a campaign is hard to maintain. But this is mostly due trying to maintain the funny side of things. You can get a lot more mileage out of the rule set if you play it with a little more serious tone. Think Indiana Jones or the Mummy. I have pretty much worked out that anything you can do with Feng Shui, you can do with GB with very minor tinkering. (And lite rule sets are gold to time poor bastards like me – last thing I want to do is waste a session on making characters or resolving one lousy combat).

Thanks for keeping these games visible, even if actually getting hold of the damn things is near impossible.
