RE: Damage - ugh.

Converted from Phorums BB System

The damage system in GBI was a little more complicated than I wanted to get into when I first wrote the review, but here are the basics:

When in a fight, the PCs/ NPCs / monsters/ etc. each roll dice according to their Muscles scores. Whoever scores higher does damage to the other.

Determining damage is done by finding the difference between the two rolled scores. This difference is found on a chart, and the chart tells you how many points of damage are done. These points of damage then are subtracted from the character's traits, rather than their Brownie Points.

EXAMPLE:
Ghostbuster Bob and a zombie are slugging it out. Bob has a Muscles of three, so he rolls three dice and gets a total of 10.

The zombie has a Muscles of two, but rolls well and gets a total of 12.

The zombie beat Bob by a difference of 2 points. Looking on the combat chart, an attack succeeding by 1-3 points will inflict one point of damage.

The one point of damage is then removed from any one of Bob's four traits, as the player sees fit.
