Our gaming group played Fungi from Yuggoth several editions of Call of Cthulu ago and generally agreed that it was our best Call of Cthulu campaign ever (exceeded only by some one-evening scenarios that went especially well). It's true, because of the "railroad" effect, you can always get from A to B without investigation, but everything you learn helps you survive the encounters ahead. Because we investigated thoroughly, my character survived from the beginning all the way to the final encounter (but sadly, not past it).
