Excellent post. As you say, communication is all.

Your final paragraph about world-centric campaigns is well made - the SA mechanics are hard to use with this approach to a game and in many cases they will continually push to break down the creative authority that many GMs expect to have with this playstyle. A significant failing of the TRoS rulebook is that it doesn't make this clear.
