Here's a couple of ideas that popped into my head while reading these posts. They assume your group wants to spread the recording work around.

1) If you want to share the work, why not have the person *behind* (in turn order) the current speaker be the recorder? The speaker can speak, and the *next* person in turn order can be ready to take the speaking baton.

2) If you have networked computers, I wonder if a wiki would be a good way to deal with managing the information... (he says, knowing very little about Universalis or wikis).
