SWD6 could REALLY bog down IME, when absolute fistfuls of D6s needed to be rolled and summed up, ad nauseum. It also had real trouble representing Jedi. The Wild Die was just funky, and not in a good way (though easily fixed--e-mail me if anyone cares).

As far as how "Star Wars" the systems are, I really think it depends a lot on the story one wants to tell, so I think the GM makes a bigger difference than the system. We're a lot more partial to Knights of the Old Republic as a model here for our game and I think we've found that SWD20 pretty much gives that basic experience. There's a lot I like about the old system (the fact that it is INCREDIBLY light on character stats tops things and I was quite reticent about the switch initially, but SWD20 seems to do the job fairly well.
