d20 was the correct choice for the Lone Wolf RPG because Magnamund was originally a D&D campaign, not because d20 is inherently any better.

I'm not going to get into the old d20 flamewar, but I would like to gently point out that a system's popularity is entirely separate from its quality. As long as a product has ubiquity, its quality is pretty much irrelevant (e.g., McDonalds, Blockbuster, Microsoft, AOL).

Not saying d20's good, not saying d20's bad, just that it'd be just as popular either way.
