Interactive Fiction...

...fun twenty years ago, still fun now.

I had the same experience when I stumbled onto Project Aon. I'm just beginning the fourth book now, but my search for similar websites led me to this interesting link:

http://www.the-underdogs.org/

They have a lot of reviews of old software games and some shareware/abandonware you can download from their site, but more interestingly to me, they also have an impressive index of interactive fiction books, recovered from the Choose Your Own Adventure boom of the '80s and scanned into downloadable PDF format. They've got quite a collection - for example, I was completely unaware that anyone had ever made Middle-Earth or Narnia gamebooks!

WEBSITE NAVIGATION NOTE:
The toolbar along the top that includes "Interactive Fiction" is actually a bit deceptive - that will lead you to computer games of the Zork type.

Instead, scroll down and look to the left for the link that says "Gamebooks," under "Recommended".

Talk about your flashbacks...
