Whatever other people might use the term "cherry-picking" to mean has no bearing on what SKR meant by it, which he spelled out quite explicitly:

"I think you'll see a lot of people interested in artificing who'll cherry-pick this class (taking only one level in it, then returning to their main class) and use its many nice 1st-level abilities to augment their main class' abilities..."
