You've got the point: because it is mathematically crisp and clean in design ;-)

And the system is precise and fast. Rules lawyers have a lot to discuss, but if you don't like lots of rules you can play too.

That's why (IMO) it is more fun to play than d20, Savage Words, BESM or ...

On the other hand, if "fun" means kill lots of wandering monsters, disable stupid traps, fight on a board with minis and hex maps (wargame?), gain levels without playing a role or an adventure, discuss 50% time with the game master that it is a +2 bonus and not +1... well, video games stuff, d20 is more fun ;-)
